Limpopo police have launched a manhunt after 57-year-old Maphoko Malatji was found dead inside a house in Matipane, outside Tzaneen.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said officers found Malatji’s body in a pool of blood on Saturday.

Investigators have asked Simon Makeya to come forward and assist with the investigation. Police have not described him as an accused person or announced any arrest.

Public appeal for information

Ledwaba urged anyone who knows Makeya’s whereabouts, or who has information that could help investigators, to contact police immediately.

The initial police account did not state how Malatji was killed, identify a suspected motive or provide further details about the house where she was found.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation. Police had not announced a charge by Sunday evening.

People with information can report it at their nearest police station or through the South African Police Service’s Crime Stop line on 08600 10111.
