Parliament’s impeachment committee examining the Phala Phala matter will brief the media at 13:30 on Tuesday, with chairperson Makashule Gana expected to provide an update on the committee’s work.
The briefing will be held in the Good Hope Chamber at Parliament in Cape Town. Gana is also expected to take questions.
Parliament said members of the public can follow the proceedings on Parliament TV and its official online platforms.
The Section 89 committee was established to consider whether President Cyril Ramaphosa should face an impeachment process arising from the 2020 theft of foreign currency from his Phala Phala farm and the handling of the matter.
The committee’s work follows a Constitutional Court judgment that revived parliamentary consideration of the independent panel report. The process remains before the committee, and Tuesday’s briefing is expected to clarify its progress and next steps.
