Four people are expected to appear in court on Monday after separate police operations across the Cape Flats led to arrests on drug-related charges.
Western Cape police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala said the arrests were made in Nyanga, Elsies River, Bellville and Kraaifontein during the previous 24 hours.
The operations formed part of Operation Prosper, a continuing police deployment aimed at crime hotspots in Cape Town. Police reported finding quantities of khat, mandrax, crystal methamphetamine and dagga during the searches, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Gwala said the suspects face charges linked to possession of and dealing in drugs. The allegations have not yet been tested in court, and an arrest does not amount to a conviction.
Police did not immediately release the names or ages of the four suspects, the courts in which they are expected to appear, or a combined value for the seized material.
The arrests were carried out in four different areas rather than as one operation at a single address. Police said the deployment would continue as officers target drug trafficking and other serious crimes.
Further details are expected when the accused make their first court appearances. Prosecutors will then place the charges before the court and may provide more information about the individual cases.
