A Johannesburg Metro Police Officer has been arrested for allegedly taking a R10 bribe from a taxi driver in Soweto.

JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnar, told TimesLive that the officer who is currently behind bars pulled the taxi over in Pretoria Glen on 14 January 2019.
It’s been reported that the taxi driver failed to produce a driver’s license and his taxi had no number when he was stopped. He is now turned stated witness.
David Tembe, Head of JMPD said corruption will not be tolerated. ” We are committed to rooting out those dare tarnish the image of the Law enforcement fraternity,” said Tembe.

Meanwhile, social media peeps couldn’t let it pass. Question were asked how the officer could risk his job over R10. One Twitter user had this to say: “We must really put a cap on the ‘codrink money’ because R10 is too small amount to loose one’s pension.
