Newly appointed spokesperson Masechaba Ndlovu announced a 64 death toll for South Africa’s coronavirus cases, supposedly a mistake to the number of cases instead of death, twitter won’t forgive her.
In her deleted tweet, Masechaba misquoted the minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, whom she is a spokesperson to.
“The message is unambiguous. People must listen to what the president has said. There is no ‘if’ or ‘maybe’, people are dying. The death toll was at 64 yesterday, we now stand at 116.” Masechaba tweeted.
The presenter and radio personality was slammed with others suggesting it’s a fault enough to have the new spokesperson fired.
She later apologized in a tweet
Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced her appointment six days ago, Masechaba received warm congratulations while others were too quick to dismiss her.
“I am pleased to welcome Masechaba Ndlovu to the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture as my newly appointed Spokesperson. As a Department, we know that you will play an integral part in executing our motto of “laying the foundation for greatness,” Mthethwa announced on Thursday.
