The transfer window that’s beheld by many as the best ever saw Gini Wijnaldum donning Paris-Saint Germain alongside other big signings Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi.
Wijnaldum seems unhappy in his stay so far at the French giants as his name is hardly found in the starting lineup.
It wasn’t always going to be easy for the Netherlands man taking into account he is contending for the midfield spot with Marco Verrati, Ander Herrera, Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Paredes who have been around for quite long.
According to Metro Sport Wijnaldum was frank about being a substitute and he is not happy about it.
”I can’t say I’m completely happy. The situation is not what I wanted,” he told reporters ahead of the Netherlands ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar.
The former Liverpool played all the 38 matches for The Reds in the Premier League last season but has already missed one league match in France.
“I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit and also did very well. This is something different and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult.”
“That’s football and I’ll have to learn to deal with that. I’m a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to turn it around.”
The 30 year old has made 11 appearances for PSG this season but only has one start in a league match.
