Police have formed a multidisciplinary task team to investigate the deaths of four women whose bodies were found in the same area of Kempton Park over the past two months.
The latest body was discovered on Saturday evening, according to SABC News and eNCA.
Police said the women were found partly clothed and had visible bruising. Their identities and the causes of death have not all been publicly confirmed.
SAPS has not confirmed speculation that the cases are linked to a serial offender. Investigators are working to establish whether there is a connection between the deaths.
Police urge caution
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe urged women to avoid walking or running alone in isolated areas and, where possible, to travel in groups while the investigation continues.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the safety of women remained a priority and that authorities were following the investigation.
Police have appealed for information that could assist the task team. No arrests had been announced by the time of publication.
