Tshepang Moremi scored the winner as Orlando Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs 2–1 in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 31 October.
Moremi struck in the 55th minute after Pule Mmodi had cancelled out Yamela Mbuthuma’s opener. Chiefs finished with ten players after Inácio Miguel received a second yellow card in stoppage time.
Mokobodi supplies both Pirates goals
The PSL’s official match record credited Thapelo Mokobodi with the assists for both Pirates goals, each following a counterattack. Mbuthuma put Pirates ahead in the 24th minute, before Mmodi equalised six minutes later.
The teams were level at half-time. Moremi restored Pirates’ lead ten minutes after the restart, and the score remained unchanged through six minutes of added time.
Miguel, whose return was the only change to Chiefs’ starting side, was booked in the 81st minute and again at 90+1.
Brandon Petersen saved another Moremi attempt in stoppage time, but Chiefs could not find a second equaliser. The official match centre recorded the final score as Pirates 2, Chiefs 1.
