Prof Vuyo Peach has resigned as a non-executive director of Eskom with effect from Monday, 26 October 2026, the utility announced in a notice to debt investors.

Eskom said Peach would also leave the relevant board committees. It attributed his departure to his decision to pursue other interests, without providing further details.

The notice, released through the JSE’s SENS service at 17:34, said Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, acting as the shareholder representative, thanked Peach for his contribution and wished him well.

No replacement was named in the announcement, and it did not set out a timetable for filling the vacancy.

Departure less than a year after appointment

Peach was among seven new directors whose appointments Eskom announced on 28 October 2025. Those appointments took effect on 1 December that year, placing his departure just under 11 months after he joined the board.

A subsequent Eskom notice, dated 28 January 2026, listed him as a member of the audit committee and the social, ethics and sustainability committee. Monday’s announcement referred to his departure from the applicable committees without naming them individually or announcing revised membership.

The change concerns a non-executive board position rather than the chief executive’s office. Eskom’s leadership page separately identifies Dan Marokane as group chief executive and Mteto Nyati as chairperson.

In a separate announcement on 25 September, Eskom confirmed the continuation of Nyati’s term as chairperson. It said the decision was intended to maintain leadership continuity as the utility worked on its longer-term position in the changing electricity market.
