Tshwane has warned residents not to drink or use water from the natural spring at Rethabiseng Social Integrated Centre in Bronkhorstspruit, saying tests found it unsafe for human consumption.

The City’s notice dated 6 November concerns this specific spring in Region 7. It directs residents to use safe water from sources approved or authorised by the municipality.

The warning covers drinking, cooking, preparing baby formula, washing fruit and vegetables, and brushing teeth. Residents should not treat the spring as an alternative source for those uses.

The City says the water may contain germs that cause diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting. It identifies babies, young children, older people, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems as particularly vulnerable.

The notice does not publish the detailed test results or identify a particular organism. This report relays the municipal warning rather than independently testing the water or confirming individual illnesses.
