South Africa has increased the annual quota for a specified rebate on US frozen bone-in chicken cuts to 74,351 tonnes, up from 73,881 tonnes.

The change was gazetted on 6 November, with retrospective effect from 1 April 2026, according to SARS’s tariff-amendment index. The increase is 470 tonnes.

Notice R.8157 concerns frozen chicken pieces with bones imported from or originating in the United States. It provides a rebate of the full anti-dumping duty, subject to specified conditions, rather than removing every possible import charge.

The annual quota period runs from 1 April to 31 March. Imports require specific permits from the International Trade Administration Commission on the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture’s director-general. Permits are not transferable.

The notice also retains provisions linking suspension of the rebate to suspension of South Africa’s specified AGOA benefits, including written ministerial confirmation. This report describes the gazetted amendment and does not establish the current operation of that suspension mechanism or any importer’s eligibility.

The quota is a ceiling under the rebate arrangement, not a report of chicken already imported. The notice does not establish retail-price changes, additional shipments or permits already issued.
